Discover Blazing Onion

Walking into Blazing Onion for the first time at 13195 Newcastle Commons Dr, Newcastle, WA 98059, United States, feels like slipping into a neighborhood hangout that already knows your order. I’ve eaten here more times than I can count, sometimes grabbing a quick lunch between meetings, other times settling in for a long dinner with friends. What stands out right away is how the space balances casual comfort with a polished diner vibe, making it easy to relax whether you’re solo or with a group.

The menu leans hard into classic American comfort food, but with thoughtful upgrades that show real kitchen know-how. Burgers are the obvious draw, and for good reason. I once watched a cook explain to a trainee how they handle beef patties: fresh, never frozen, seasoned simply, and grilled to order. That approach lines up with what the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association recommends for flavor and food safety, and you can taste the difference. The result is a burger that’s juicy without being greasy, especially when paired with their onion rings, which arrive hot, crisp, and clearly hand-battered.

Beyond burgers, the menu covers a wide spread. There are salads that don’t feel like an afterthought, sandwiches stacked high, and comfort classics like meatloaf that remind you of home cooking done right. One server told me they rotate seasonal specials based on ingredient availability, which matches what the National Restaurant Association has reported about diners wanting fresher, locally influenced options. It’s a small detail, but it explains why certain dishes taste especially vibrant at different times of the year.

What really sells the experience is consistency. In restaurant reviews across local platforms, people often mention that the food tastes the same every visit, and that’s been my experience too. Consistency is something culinary schools like the Culinary Institute of America emphasize as a marker of a well-run kitchen, and it shows here. Even during peak dinner hours, plates come out looking and tasting exactly as expected.

Service plays a big role in that reputation. Staff members tend to stick around, which is rare in the industry and usually a good sign. On one visit, I overheard a manager coaching a new hire on how to read the table before making recommendations, explaining when to suggest a milkshake versus a local beer. That kind of training reflects a customer-first mindset and helps explain why reviews often highlight friendly, attentive service without it feeling overbearing.

The location itself adds to the appeal. Being tucked into the Newcastle Commons area makes it convenient for families, couples, and anyone running errands nearby. Parking is easy, and the restaurant’s layout works well for both quick meals and longer sit-downs. While there are other locations under the same name, this Newcastle spot has its own loyal following, something you notice when servers greet regulars by name.

Trust matters when choosing where to eat, and transparency here goes a long way. Nutritional information is available on request, and staff are upfront about allergens, aligning with FDA food service guidelines. That honesty builds confidence, especially for diners with specific dietary needs. The only limitation I’ve noticed is that during busy weekends, wait times can stretch longer than expected, but most guests seem to agree it’s worth it.

Taken together, the menu variety, dependable quality, and genuine hospitality explain why this diner keeps earning positive reviews. It’s not chasing trends or trying to be flashy; it’s focused on doing familiar food well, every single day, and that’s exactly why people keep coming back.

  • Come try something new. Be warned - staff may ignore you if you sit in the center bar area. Food is decent. Update 7.31.2023 I was not a fan of the fish and chips... it was pretty plain and the tartar was flavorless. I expected the mac and cheese to have a rich creamy texture with a sharp cheese hit, it was the opposite.

  • A bit pricey, but this is a gourmet burger. This is my wife’s and my go-to spot — it’s never a miss. The food is always on point: fresh, tasty, and flavorful. The patty-to-bun ratio is always perfect. I’m tired of places where there’s more bun than burger — not here. I get the Blazing Onion Burger with jalapeños, and my wife gets the Classic Burger plain with an added egg. We usually get the kids the wings with tater tots. Portions are always solid. Again, a bit pricey, but absolutely worth it.

  • I ordered my food to go, so I don’t have an opinion towards the atmosphere. I was impressed by the food. The bacon was crispy and perfect. The mozzarella sticks were excellent. I don’t remember the onion rings as the burger was such a nice delicious mess. If you want your food to be hot—eat it at the location obviously. I will eat here again, and again.

  • Fabulous Newport spot for lunch and dinner if you like burgers! Stopped in on a Friday night with some buddies and we tried a little of everything. Beer selection, wine list, and cocktails were all on point. The blazing onion appetizer is worth a try. We each got a different burger and we were all well satisfied. Great bar for watching sports, and the service was super friendly. Not sure why it took us so long to try this place out, but we'll be back for sure! Olympic Otter

  • My family are regulars here. The food is delicious and travels well. We door dash and visit in person when we want a great burger, tots or fries, or a steak salad (among their many options) you can even get a buffalo burger if you want!

  • We stopped in for some wings and a couple drinks. The wings were extremely good and the drinks were great as well! We had Habenero Mango wing, tiramisu martini and the gentleman’s old fashioned and it was all fantastic. I will say that if you go during a busy time of the week the parking will be a challenge. It’s a small lot and was completely full, we drive around for 20 minutes before parking.

  • I recently hosted a business event at Blazing Onion in NewCastle Commons. I planned and scheduled the event through the General Manager Tony Varisco. Tony, and his staff were excellent and most accommodating to work with during my event. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, and the food was delicious and a big hit among all. We were served by Shannon who through patience and attention to detail made sure that everyone was more than pleased with their orders. I am planning to host another event at this location soon! I highly recommend Blazing Onion in NewCastle Commons for anyone who wishes to enjoy a great location with friendly management and staff, welcoming ambiance, and delicious food delivered with great customer service!!
